For the past five years, Greater Sydney Landcare has proudly partnered with Lidcombe’s Carnarvon Golf Club to enhance their green space. Together with golf club members, corporate teams, and Landcare volunteers, we’ve worked tirelessly to improve canopy cover, boost habitat values, and enhance water quality—creating a lush, sustainable environment that benefits both wildlife and the wider community.
Carnarvon Golf Club isn’t just a recreational space; it’s a thriving hub for local flora, fauna, and the community. This collaborative effort is transforming the area into an urban sanctuary for wildlife while contributing to a healthier environment for everyone to enjoy.

Creating Canopies has assisted in planting over 700 of trees and shrubs. These include gum trees (eucalypts), paperbarks (melaleucas), wattles (acacias), banksias, hakeas and more. Many will grow to three metres and above to provide shade and cooling canopy cover, which has an important role to play in reducing urban heat in the Greater Sydney region.
However, this evolving green space now needs your support. Carnarvon Golf Cub has been earmarked as a potential site to expand the nearby cemetery. To ensure its future as a haven for nature and the community, we urge you to sign the petition and help protect Carnarvon Golf Club for generations to come.
Your voice matters! Support the preservation of Carnarvon Golf Club by signing the petition today and sharing it with your networks. Together, we can ensure this vital space continues to thrive.
