Greater Sydney Landcare is excited to promote the 2025 Hawkesbury Nepean Landcare Schools Wetland Challenge, an initiative led by Hawkesbury-Nepean Landcare in partnership with local government green teacher networks—Penrith Hawkesbury Environmental Education Network, The Hills Shire Council Green Schools Network, and Blacktown Green Schools Network.
This fantastic event invites schools in the area to adopt a local wetland (one school, one wetland). Three schools from each LGA will be asked to present on 5th June 2025 – World Environment Day at the inaugural Hawkesbury Nepean Landcare Wetland Forum why their wetland deserves to be crowned the Hawkesbury Nepean Landcare Wetland of the Year.
Hawkesbury Nepean Landcare Wetland School Challenge Criteria
- The school is part of the following LGAs: Blacktown, the Hawkesbury, the Hills or Penrith.
- Know your wetland: Conduct research to understand the importance of your wetland.
- Support your wetland: Participate in citizen science or Landcare activities to make a positive impact.
- Share your story: Create a compelling presentation to showcase your journey and findings.
It’s a wonderful chance for students to connect with nature, learn about wetland conservation, and celebrate their local environment.
Don’t miss out—get your school involved today.
