Streamwatch continues to provide ALERT Kits for schools in the St. George, Botany Bay, and Sutherland Shire areas. This lets students in the Georges River Catchment area investigate local waterway health and directly supports the NSW curriculum.
The program extends beyond the classroom and is now available as an experiential learning activity that supports:
-
- Extracurricular Clubs and Committees
Enrich your school’s environmental or sustainability committee by collecting real water quality data and contributing to a long-term citizen science project. - Environmental Education Centres
Streamwatch can be incorporated as a fieldwork activity into excursions and programs delivered through environmental education centres near the Georges River. - Girl Guide and Scout Groups
Building lifelong skills in leadership, teamwork, and problem solving, Streamwatch empowers young people to connect with nature and take meaningful action for waterway health within their community.
- Extracurricular Clubs and Committees

Whether you’re a school teacher, environmental educator, or guide/scout leader, Streamwatch offers a hands-on, engaging way to inspire young people to explore their local environment while making a meaningful impact.
By participating, students not only achieve cross-curricular outcomes and develop key STEM skills, but also gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for water conservation and the impact of human activities on aquatic ecosystems.
Get involved today and empower the next generation of environmental leaders!
