In 2024, Greater Sydney Landcare saw a year of impactful work through our Corporate Volunteering Program, providing meaningful environmental activities for corporate teams, and strengthening their connections with nature.
To recap our most successful year yet, Greater Sydney Landcare held 55 corporate volunteering events, contributing to a grand total of 966 volunteer days. In 2024, we partnered with 44 companies whose teams contributed to the restoration of 31 sites, creating healthier, more resilient green spaces across Greater Sydney for people and wildlife alike. 15 Local Government Areas across Sydney benefitted from extra on-ground support in environmental restoration works, thanks to this program.

Conservation in Action
In 2024, Greater Sydney Landcare provided our corporate volunteers with opportunities to support four of our environmental restoration projects:
- Creating Canopies: With 22 events focused on tree planting, volunteers helped enhance urban greenery and reduce urban heat across Greater Sydney.
- Cumberland Plain Restoration: Of the 34 events centred on bushland restoration, many focused on preserving the unique ecosystems of the Cumberland Plain.
- Koala Conservation: Two events directly supported habitat restoration efforts for Sydney koala populations, helping to protect this iconic species.
- Streamwatch: River care and restoration remained a core educational component of many events, raising awareness for healthy waterways in Greater Sydney.

Preserving Cultural and Ecological Heritage: A Collaborative Effort
Thanks to strong corporate engagement in 2024, Greater Sydney Landcare delivered significant environmental improvements to natural areas across Greater Sydney. Nurragingy Reserve, in particular, showcased the success of this initiative.
In partnership with Blacktown City Council, Greater Sydney Landcare welcomed six organisations to participate in natural area restoration work at Nurragingy. Over 10 corporate volunteering events, employees from Microsoft, NBN, SiteMinder, Laing O’Rourke, Spirax Sarco, and Tate helped restore the reserve’s unique and precious bushland. These events brought 140 enthusiastic volunteers to contribute their time and effort to revitalise this cherished Western Sydney parkland, under the supervision of Greater Sydney Landcare’s professional bush regenerators.
Nurragingy Reserve is a beloved space, deeply valued by the Blacktown community and the Dharug people, the traditional custodians of the land. The collaboration between the public, private and not-for-profit sectors has made a positive impact on this important site, helping to protect its natural beauty and cultural significance. Greater Sydney Landcare is excited to continue this vital work in 2025 and beyond.
