Greater Sydney Landcare is excited to be entering the next phase of our development to grow caring for the environment in Greater Sydney.
A few of the important steps we are taking:
- Implementing the NSW Landcare Enabling Program 2023-2027 with our hosting partners.
- We have helped to launch a new program working with Amazon Web Services and Great Eastern Ranges to build resilience of the landscapes and communities in Wollondilly, which will have as one of its major KPIs innovative water saving measurement.
- Our hosting partners, networks and GSL are building closer links with groups and networks in our respective areas so that we can all work more collaboratively together for enhanced environmental outcomes. I am personally working with the Parramatta River catchment groups and northern Sydney groups to establish new networks. If you are in these areas and would like your group to be involved please contact me on chair@greatersydneylandcare.org
- We are enhancing our offerings for Corporate Volunteering to further grow our ability to value add to environmental projects, groups activities and to assist Councils.
- Creating Canopies is planting another 80,000 trees plus shrubs and grasses this year to improve habitat, connectivity and to cool our city. We are also taking EOI’s now for 2024 and 2025 plantings so if you have space for 100 or more trees please let us know.
- Streamwatch training materials are being updated and groups are gradually being trained in updating the ALA.
