As we approach the Greater Sydney Landcare and Bushcare Forum and Awards on Friday 23rd May, we are excited about the prospect of celebrating some of the wonderful work being done across Greater Sydney and honouring the award winners. We look forward to sharing the stories of these amazing individuals, groups, schools, and more over the months to come.

In the spirit of sharing and collaboration, we have now set up informal connections across Greater Sydney—welcoming all Landcare groups, Bushcare teams, Councils, and passionate individuals to share their successes and challenges. The new regional groupings include the Northern, Southern, and Western Landcare Networks. If you have not yet joined one, please email me at chair@greatersydneylandcare.org and provide your name, the group/s or Council you are active with, the LGA you work in, and your email. Please note that contact details are shared within these circles to help members connect directly and pursue opportunities without needing to go through me. These groups are respectful and considerate of others.

Already, these connections have helped spark or grow projects and brought like-minded people together on shared activities.

Some common themes have emerged—issues with specific or emerging weeds such as Spanish Moss and Frogbit, concerns about artificial turf, building stronger relationships between stakeholders, attracting new volunteers, and more. We’ve also heard about some fantastic on-ground projects. So, if you haven’t yet connected and would like to learn from others, please get in touch.

Keep up the great work,

Bev Debrincat,
Chair, Greater Sydney Landcare
